FIRMWARE 2.11 EXTENDS THE SPECTRUM OF THE MFC-101 EVEN FURTHER.
ALONGSIDE MANY DETAIL IMPROVEMENTS THE BEST FLOORBOARD
FOR THE AXE-FX II NOW ALSO TRUMPS WITH A
DEDICATED LOOPER CONTROL MODE.
Since its release the MFC-101 has enjoyed considerable popularity as the natural extension of the Axe-Fx series. We are thus very pleased to announce the release of the new Version Firmware 2.11, a comprehensive update that really does extend the spectrum of foot control and, alongside many detail improvements also provides a dedicated Looper Control Mode. But first things first.
Firmware 2.0 brought with it a doubling of the MIDI transfer speed and a large number of improvements in small details, all of which can be read about in the new manual or the release notes accompanying each update. For any users who have so far postponed updating their MFC-101 and are still using Version 1.x, now is a good time to make the leap, as the improvements really are very attractive.
MFC-101 GOES LOOPER
Firmware 6 for the Axe-Fx II taught the existing Looper function all sorts of new tricks, such as half-speed and double-speed playback among others. But up to now setting up the MFC-101 to control these features was a rather complicated affair.
Firmware 2.11 for the MFC-101 now offers a specialised Looper Control Mode for the Axe-Fx II, making it possible to control all the features of the looper without having to reprogram a single switch or parameter on either device. Just a single press of a switch - by default a long press of the REVEAL switch - starts the Looper Control Mode. The switches then have the fixed functions shown in the graphic on the right. Of course, you can easily leave the Looper Control Mode to change sounds etc. without the loop stopping. We're sure that this feature will now encourage those guitarists to make use of the looper live who, up to now, have shied away from it because it was too complicated.
NOW IT'S MFC TIME
And if up to now you weren't sure whether the MFC-101 was the right MIDI controller for you, you can be sure that thanks to the fresh firmware update the already good MFC-101 is now the best MFC-101 there has ever been, despite the fact that the price has not changed. The firmware update is, by the way, once again completely free.
For new users we recommend taking a look at the following Video Long-time Axe-Fx user and forum grandee Chris Allen shows clearly and competently how to set up the MFC-101 for basic use. He has also produced an excellent Video on how to set up expression pedals.
